We’re a group of men of all ages and backgrounds brought together by one thing: the joy of singing. Our choir is more than just music—it’s friendship, laughter, and the buzz of performing together. No auditions, no need to read music (though it helps)—just enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go!

What kind of music do you sing?
We sing a mix of traditional Welsh male voice choir songs, including some in Welsh! Our repertoire also draws on our mining heritage, with powerful and moving pieces that reflect the rich history of our community. But it’s not all about the old classics—we also perform well-known popular songs and crowd-pleasers that get everyone singing along. There’s truly something for every taste!

Do I need to be an experienced singer to join?
Not at all! Many of our members hadn’t sung in a group before joining. If you enjoy singing—even if it’s just in the car or shower—you’re more than welcome.

Do I need to read music?
Some of our members do read music, many learn by ear. We provide the resources and support to help you pick things up at your own pace.

Is there an audition?
No auditions here! Just come along, join in, and see how you like it. If you’ve not sung in a choir before, our highly experienced Musical Director will be able to tell you whether you’re a tenor, baritone or bass, that’s it! We’re a friendly, no-pressure group.

Do I have to perform in concerts?
Only if you want to! Performing is a lot of fun and a great goal to work toward, but there’s no pressure. Come for the music, stay for the community. If and when you are ready to perform you will receive the ultimate honour- A Snowdown Colliery Male Voice Choir blazer and tie!

Is there a cost to join?
There’s a small membership fee to help cover venue hire, music, and running costs—but your first few rehearsals are completely free, so come try it out first!

When and where are rehearsals?
We meet Mondays evenings, 7.30 to 9.30 pm (except holidays) at the Aylesham Workshop Trust, Ackholt Road
Aylesham. CT3 3AJ It’s a relaxed, welcoming space with ample parking and great acoustics.
